Scholarship endowment:

Stipend and Tuition Compensation Scholarships

  • Full tuition is offset for up to two years for students pursuing a master's degree through research or up to four years for students pursuing a doctorate.
  • Living allowance of $32,400 per year prorated for up to two years for students pursuing a master's degree through research or up to 3.5 years for students pursuing a doctorate. The living allowance can be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, maternity and paternity leave.
  • Relocation grant of $2000 for students moving from states or territories other than Victoria or $3000 for students moving from outside Australia.
  • Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) membership for international students who require a student visa to study in Australia

Tuition Compensation Scholarships

  • Full tuition is offset for up to two years for students pursuing a master's degree through research or up to four years for students pursuing a doctorate.

Conditions that participants must meet:

  • Have met the university's entry requirements to finally be enrolled for the research and postgraduate degree.
  • You will be nominated immediately for Graduate Research Scholarships if the student is new and has applied for a research course before the application closing date. You will receive notification that your request has been taken into account within 7 days of being sent.
  • If the student is pursuing postgraduate research studies, they will apply online before October 31. While the applicant who wants the graduate research course offer with a deferred start must complete their application online before October 31.
  • In both cases you will receive a notification stating that your request has been added to your registry within 7 days of the form being sent.

Instructions to apply:

Follow the steps below to avail University of Melbourne Scholarships:

  • If you are a new student and have applied for a postgraduate research course before the application closing date for that course, you will automatically be considered for Postgraduate Research Scholarships. You will receive notification that a scholarship application has been added to your record within seven days of submitting your course application.
  • If you have accepted an offer of a postgraduate research course and deferred start in order to be reconsidered for a scholarship, you must submit an online application form by 31 October to be considered for a scholarship the following year. You will receive notification that a scholarship application has been added to your record within seven days of submitting the online form.
  • If you are currently enrolled in a graduate research course for which you are seeking a scholarship, you must submit an online application form by October 31 to be considered for a scholarship the following year. You will receive notification that a scholarship application has been added to your record within seven days of submitting the online form.
