Latin American Scholarships Funded by the Organization of American States

The Organization of American States (OAS), through the Lowe Fund, provides educational loans to citizens of Latin America and the Caribbean to study or conduct research at accredited universities in the United States.

Lowe Fund Overview

 

  • The Lowe Fund finances academic programs in all fields of study except English as a Second Language.
  • The Fund is available to nationals of member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Recipients of the Lowell Fund are committed to returning to their country of origin.

 

Benefits of the Fund

Loans of up to $15,000 are interest-free with no application fee. If the application is approved, funds will be transferred directly to the student.

Who can apply?

The Fund is available to international students who have been admitted to an accredited U.S. university.

Students pursuing undergraduate or professional programs are eligible to apply.

Scholars, researchers, or professionals whose purpose is academic research or technical certification may also apply.

Finally, individuals participating in an academic exchange or professional development program for at least one semester are also eligible to apply.

When can I apply?

 

Grant applications are accepted year-round and can be submitted at any stage of a student's study in the United States.

Therefore, there are no deadlines for applications and interested applicants may apply at any time.
